He does not believe that there are “problems” with the investigation of the ‘Reparos case’ and closes the door to reaching agreements with Podemos and VOX
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The secretary general of the Canarian Coalition (CC), Fernando Clavijo, has registered this Monday his candidacy for the Presidency of the Canary Islands endorsed by the seven island political councils and which will be endorsed next Friday in a vote in the National Political Council.
In statements to journalists, he has indicated that he presents himself as the “alternative” to the ‘Pacto de las Flores’ that has led the archipelago since 2019 and made it clear that his formation will not close political agreements with Podemos or with VOX.
Along these lines, he has not ruled out signing agreements with the PSOE and the PP, although he has pointed out that his formation is going out “to win the game.”
He has said that he is going to form “a team of leaders” to face the challenges of the coming times that are “complex” – the OECD has warned of the risk of recession in Spain in 2023 – and from a perspective of “full obedience” to the interests of the people who live in the Canary Islands.
“We are not going to bow our heads or look the other way when our rights are violated,” he added.
Clavijo has highlighted that CC seeks to win the elections in all the islands and thus be able to form a “strong” government that works to design a “single speed” archipelago that the current Executive has not managed to achieve.
He has said that the regional government “denies reality” because companies and families have a hard time due to inflation and the energy crisis and does not take measures that will cause it to aggravate the economic situation. “We don’t like how this crisis is being dealt with,” he stressed.
He regretted that a policy of tax savings and investment incentives is not applied and in this sense, he said that “immediately” the personal income tax must be deflated, for example, given that the 12,500 euros now “are not the same” as nine years.
Clavijo has indicated that “it is a matter of justice and common sense” and not lowering the IGIC or deflating personal income tax means “more burden” for citizens and that the cost of the crisis is passed on to classes with less purchasing power or via debt .
REST OF CANDIDATES, THROUGHOUT OCTOBER
Regarding the rest of the candidacies, he has indicated that each island has its independence and it will be throughout the month of October when the lists are cleared for the councils and Parliament.
Questioned about a possible imputation for the ‘Reparos case’ and its repercussion on the electoral candidacy, he has indicated that there does not have to be “any type of problem” to go to testify for an administrative file.
He recalled that the councilor of the City Council of La Laguna, Santiago Pérez, has already filed “many” complaints and all of them “have come to nothing at all” and now he believes that after three years an opportunity will open up, if the Supreme decides, to “explain” that the raising of objections was adjusted to law and had the endorsement of the legal services and managers of the consistory.
Despite the objection of Intervention, it has indicated that it decided, as the responsibility of the mayor, that services such as supervised flats for victims of gender violence, the supply of fuel to the cars of the Local Police or adapted transport for users of the Hospital de Dolores were extended.
