The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has advanced this Friday that the corporation is preparing the activation of the Insular Territorial Emergency Plan (PEIN) in the face of the episode of heavy rains scheduled for this weekend due to the tropical wave that has been created in the African continent.
In statements to journalists, he has indicated that at 5:30 p.m. he meets with the president of the Canary Islands in a summit with the seven councils to adopt measures and the Councilor for Security of the Council, Isabel García, also holds a meeting with the insular director of security , Rubén Fernández, the Aemet and the Government, to set criteria.
Martín has indicated that they will send instructions to the municipalities to “be prepared” for what “might come”, especially from Saturday afternoon-night — the Aemet has a yellow warning for Saturday in the western islands and Gran Canaria and orange on Sunday–.
