The Canarian Housing Institute awards the drafting of the project for more than 93,000 euros
With the beginning of the procedure for the construction of these houses in the neighborhoods of Los Pasitos and Chacona, the Ministry continues to advance in the line of work with which it wants to give priority to the authorization of public housing. This new development in Güimar is the first in the Canary Islands whose project was put out to tender for the new land ceded by the municipalities to the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI) after the approval of the Housing Plan in December 2020, according to the regional government on last June 9.
The same day that the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands informed the first deputy mayor and head of the Housing area of the Güímar City Council, Airam Puerta, of the publication in the Public Sector Contracting Platform of the tender.
Franquis then valued and thanked the effort made by the Güímar city council to carry out the transfer of this land to Icavi for the execution of the Housing Plan programs in the municipality. For his part, Puerta highlighted to the councilor the important work carried out by councilors and technicians since 2019 to complete, for almost two years, the administrative file and approve in plenary session the transfer of this land to the Government.
This initiative is part of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, in which several programs are established that will contribute to reaching nearly 6,000 new public housing units in that period of time. The Plan will involve an investment of more than 664 million euros with which the Government of the Canary Islands is facing the housing emergency.
