SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Escuela de Canarias Hotels (Hecansa), a center attached to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, will participate in person at the ‘VII Gastronomic Hall of the Canary Islands, GastroCanarias 2022’.
The Hecansa team, the student body and numerous expert collaborators will develop more than fifteen training activities with local products in the ‘Training Classroom’, a space open to the fair’s public and dedicated to exhibiting the qualities of Vocational Training Dual that is taught in school hotels.
This new edition of the gastronomy fair comes after a two-year break, caused by the restrictions of the pandemic.
After overcoming several delays in 2022, the event will take place on September 27, 28 and 29, in person, at the Tenerife Fairgrounds.
“We will be present with a classroom in which the efficiency of a leading training center in Spain and the adaptation to the new parameters in which tourism moves, such as sustainability, digitization, Big Data and Reality will be displayed. Augmented, real examples that aim to introduce students to this model, positioning the Hecansa brand in the place of innovation, development and internationalization”, highlights the CEO of Escuela de Canarias Hotels, Ciprián Rivas.
The presence of Hecansa, he points out in a note, is a good opportunity to convey to the attendees the capabilities of the gastronomy of the archipelago, extol the local product and promote healthy eating and sustainable consumption, through training actions that include classes masterclasses, culinary demonstrations, tastings and tastings.
Hecansa, to launch its content program in the ‘Training Classroom’, has the collaboration of various experts from the gastronomy sector.
Pedro López, executive chef of the De Contrabando restaurant; Aníbal Falcón, considered one of the best ham cutters in the world; César Giménez, master ice cream technician; Juan Santiago, chef and owner of Hestia Restaurante, or Manuel Rodríguez, chef from Tenerife with extensive gastronomic experience, are some of the professionals who will participate in the fair.
Also present will be Isaac Bernal, Hecansa alumnus and manager of the KombuXa company; Óscar Santos, sommelier at the Vinófilos Tenerife company, or Diego Schattenhofer, chef of the Taste 1973 restaurant, as well as the team of professionals from the staff of the Canary Islands School Hotels and the student body.
Among the contents that are going to be developed, those featuring the ‘kilometer 0’ products stand out.
The quesadilla from El Hierro, the wine from Bodegas Montoro (La Gomera) or the bigeye tuna tartare are some of the products that will be exhibited in the ‘Training Classroom’, in collaboration with different brands such as HiperDino, Frimancha Canarias, Arehucas, Ireks Ibérica , Stella, Trabel Products, Aquanaria and Vinophiles.
In this way, the Escuela de Canarias Hotels will present its Dual Vocational Training system, characterized by allowing students to train through the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge, applied from day one in real environments.
HECANSA STUDENTS IN THE GASTROCANARIAS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Among the activities programmed within the framework of the ‘GastroCanarias’ organization are the different gastronomy championships.
Thus, these are parallel and complementary activities that will be carried out in the same settings and spaces provided by the organization.
These contests, both cooking and drinking, are judged by a jury, which in turn is responsible for deciding and awarding prizes to the winners.
The students of the Canary Islands School Hotels, as is customary in this type of event, compete in some of the championships that take place at the fair.
Four female and two male students from the Hotel Escuela Santa Cruz, and two students from the Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida, participate in the 7th Canarian Championship for Young Cooks-Grand Prize Binter ‘La Cocina en Verde’.
In addition, Francisco Javier Pérez, a teacher at Hecansa, participates in the Absolute Championship of the Canary Islands of Cuisine-Gran Premio Cabildo de Tenerife, a gastronomic contest of a regional nature that is celebrated on September 27.
VIRTUAL REALITY IN THE ‘TRAINING CLASSROOM’
Hecansa’s main stand, the ‘Training Classroom’, will host a kitchen module, as well as a space for tables for attendees, a room for preparing activities and a product store.
However, one of the great novelties of this edition is the integration of a smaller stand, an adjoining area equipped with virtual reality technology.
This innovative space seeks to offer a different experience through virtual reality technology.
Escuela de Canarias Hotels intends to show the facilities of its establishments to all those who put on the glasses through an interactive virtual trip recreated through 360-degree images.
In addition, the room will be surrounded by photographs of the Hecansa centers, so that all attendees can see themselves immersed in their facilities even without having to use virtual reality glasses.
