The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the director of the Tenerife Norte Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, Francisco Javier Osmán, held a working meeting yesterday in which various matters of interest to both entities were addressed.
Also taking part in the meeting were the Councilor for Citizen Security, Alejandro Marrero; the mayor of Municipal Services, Josimar Hernández, and the chief of staff of the airport, Luis Sáez Avilés.
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez valued, “once again, the willingness to collaborate that we always find on the part of the airport when developing initiatives that benefit citizens”, and stressed “the strategic importance of having an infrastructure of these characteristics in the town”. Among the issues that were addressed during the meeting, the mayor transferred to the airport management the demand of groups of people with disabilities so that, in relation to AENA, they rethink waiting times in the express drop-off and pick-up zone of passengers. Luis Yeray Gutiérrez endorses the request of these groups, who ask that the time for its free use, currently 10 minutes, be increased to facilitate use by people with reduced mobility, or that other alternatives be analyzed that adapt to the stated needs.
The mayor also conveyed the need to increase maintenance and redouble efforts in terms of cleaning, especially in the access roads to the terminal building and with regard to the conservation of landscaped areas, with the aim “of improving the image that it is offered to travelers and tourists in what is one of the main gateways to the Island”, he commented.
Likewise, both Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and Francisco Javier Osmán agreed to promote collaboration to improve road safety and traffic management not only inside the airport grounds, but also on the access roads.
