The Municipality of La Laguna held this midday a coordination meeting of all municipal areas to establish preventive measures against the possible arrival from this Saturday of adverse weather eventsespecially in the form of heavy rains, according to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency.
From the Department of Citizen Security it is recalled that the Cecopal remains activated after the rainfall that affected several areas of the municipality last Monday, so that the entire emergency device is operational. However, the areas of Works and Infrastructure and Municipal Services and the Urban Planning Department are prepared, as is the Department of Social Welfare, to intervene immediately if necessary.
According to the forecasts, Fiestas will consider the suspension of the acts and the dismantling of the main stage of the Plaza del Cristo. The Sports, Education and Market areas are also on precaution in case it is necessary to close the facilities, as well as the Department of Beaches and Swimming Pools in case coastal phenomena occur.
This Friday, first thing in the morning, a second meeting of a technical and political nature will be held, which will be chaired by the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, to determine the necessary protocols in the event of an emergency. The mayor recalls that the City Council maintains permanent communication with the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands and Cecoes 112 to act in a coordinated manner.
