The Arona City Council will repair the Paseo de Los Tarajales with half a million

The Arona Town Hall last the rdrafting of the project with which it will face the reform works of Los Tarajales promenade. It is an action “that will solve all the damage caused by the pounding of the sea” at this point on the Los Cristianos coastline, according to the municipal government.

The project is in its last phase of preparation and the technicians proceed to incorporate the modifications required by the General Directorate of the Coast and the Sea, to be sent back to said body. Once Costas grants the authorization for its execution, the works, with a budget of over 500,000 euros, will begin in a few months, after the bidding process, announces the government team of José Julián Mena.

The first phase of the integral reform of the Paseo de Los Tarajales It culminated in May 2020. The works, carried out between the Arona City Council and the Cabildo de Tenerife, with an investment of 1.5 million euros, culminated an intense process of regeneration of the coastline of the bay of the town of Los Cristianos .

The works, included between the Casa del Coronel and the H10 Big Sur hotel, involved actions throughout the area to recover the coastal space with the demolition of the Casa de los Bethencourt, which was in public-terrestrial domain; the Casa de los Soprani, a building in ruins, and the conditioning of the plot of the first of the three buildings. The work substantially improved accessibility and pedestrian connectivity with El Coronel street and Juan Carlos I avenue and the coastal promenade (Juan Alfonso Batista avenue), about 265 meters long, was completely remodeled, adding new street furniture.

By eliminating the obstacles to progress in accessibility, that intervention led to the inclusion of vegetation, the replacement of furniture and public lighting, the change in the situation of the flower beds, the elimination of stairs and the installation of ramps, in addition to improving the connection between the sea and the walk.

Ruth Lorenzo, the councilor responsible for the Works area, explains that «we are in the last phase to be able to start the bidding process and start the works as soon as possible, and to be able to solve the damage caused by the strong waves in the area. This is an important project with a budget of more than half a million euros.”
