The Sergio Alonso Foundation yesterday presented the new edition of its educational innovation program FP Plus. 34 students will participate in this course (20 in the Automotive branch and 14 in Computer Science) from La Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote (islands where their regulated studies are taught). In total, 16 VET educational centers will be represented in this initiative.
The training program is divided into three large blocks: technical training; in languages (English) and in soft skills (soft skills) with the aim that students are better prepared to face their insertion in the world of work. Each of the formations have a teaching load of 120 hours.
The president of the Foundation, Evelyn Alonso-Rhoner, was present at the event, who highlighted the value of alliances “of public educational centers, institutions and companies, which come together to offer a better education to the young people of the Canary Islands”. In this sense, she recalled that “education is the greatest engine of social transformation that exists» and insisted on the commitment of the Sergio Alonso Foundation in this field. Also present was the Director of Human Resources of Sunday Alonso Group, Miguel Ángel Castillo, who assured that companies are now looking for profiles and that is why “non-formal education is sometimes more or just as important as technical training.”
Castillo recalled that training is part of the DNA of the Domingo Alonso company and, for this reason, they are committed to FP Plus, which, in addition, can serve to attract talent in highly demanded profiles. The technical training that Automotive students receive is given by the Domingo Alonso Group and the aim is for students to be able to learn about the latest vehicle technology, especially hybrid and electric vehicles, and have knowledge about electromobility, data transmission systems or anti-pollution.
