SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Podemos Canarias requests the resignation of Fernando Clavijo, currently a senator by regional designation, after learning that the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office has requested his investigation after appreciating signs of “continued prevarication” during his time as mayor of La Laguna by raising objections of Intervention in the extension of public service contracts.
For this reason, the general coordinator of Podemos Canarias, Laura Fuentes, states in a note that “this backpack of alleged corruption is unaffordable for anyone who aspires to publicly represent the archipelago in any institution.”
In his opinion, “Clavijo agreed to his act as a senator trying to take refuge, through appraisal, from the corruption investigations that hung over him, but years later not even the appraisal has allowed this subject to escape Justice.”
Along these lines, he insists that “Clavijo’s situation as a senator is completely unsustainable and enormously damages the good name of institutions that should be a reference for transparency and exemplary character, his resignation is a matter of pure democratic hygiene and should take place as soon as possible.”
The leader of Podemos Canarias has also recalled that in the last week there has been an “unfortunate chain of judicial scandals around the Canarian Coalition”, in reference to the opening of oral proceedings against the regional deputy Mario Cabrera, the councilor Manuel Miranda and the order to open a trial against Pedro San Ginés, former president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which “redemonstrates that corruption is the only reason for this party’s existence”.
For Fuentes, “it is a relief for our land to know that, for a long time, they will not step on governments again.”
