The City Council of Santiago Mount Teide opens the term to request social assistance equivalent to 90% of the full IBI quota (commonly, contribution). Pensioners, long-term unemployed, people with dependent family members with disabilities or victims of gender-based violence, who pay the real estate tax of their habitual residence and who have a vulnerable economic and social situation, may attend. The term ends on October 5.
Pensioners who receive a payment from a public body, due to retirement, widowhood, orphanhood or disability, or their spouse, if they are the owner of the home, can access this aid. It must also be requested by people with disabilities (functional or intellectual diversity) or with relatives with said condition in their charge and the owner of the home must have a recognized disability equal to or greater than 65%; or the applicant must prove living with a relative up to the second degree of consanguinity with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65%.
Likewise, long-term unemployed (or their spouse, if they are the owner of the home) benefit from this subsidy. That is, with a minimum and uninterrupted seniority of twelve months, prior to the date of application for this subsidy, in the Public Services of Employment. Victims of gender-based violence must prove their situation through a court ruling or restraining order, to access this helpline.
In order to receive this aid, it will be an essential requirement that the beneficiary be registered and reside in Santiago del Teide with a minimum of one year’s seniority in the home for which the subsidy is requested.
Emilio Navarro, mayor of Santiago del Teide, explains that this line of economic support for citizens who most require it in fundamental matters “in times of crisis like the one we are experiencing” is part of the municipal policy developed by the government he presides over.
