The nursing staff of the Pediatric ICU of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria (HUNSC), in Tenerife, has collaborated for four years in a cultural project promoted by the cultural producer concomitants to promote the emotional care of pediatric patients through artistic and cultural proposals.
As a result of this process, which began in 2018, three works have been created: an illustrated story, created by The Hematocritic and illustrated by the Canarian artist Cynthia Hierro; a mobile library, fruit of the work of the Canarian architect Artemi Hernández of the OFIC; and a podcast, directed by the journalist Elena Cabrera, which tells stories of patients and relatives. This podcast will be posted on elDiario.es.
The three artistic proposals will be presented in an event open to the public on Thursday, September 15 at 8:00 p.m. in the Cultural Space of the CajaCanarias Foundation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The nursing staff of the Unit, made up of Quique Chinea, Lili Quintero, Ruymán Miranda, Seve Torres and Laura León, have worked together with the cultural and social mediation cooperative ZEMOS98. The CajaCanarias Foundation collaborates with the project by financing the mobile library and elDiario.es will collaborate with the distribution of the podcast.
The works produced are intended to be useful within the hospital context of the HUNSC and seek to transfer their results and learning to other health centers attached to the Canary Islands Health Service.
concomitants is a non-profit cultural production company, promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, which promotes the creation of works of art that respond to a need identified in a specific social context, through collaboration with different social groups.
