SAN SEBASTIAN DE LA GOMERA, Sep. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Gomeran Socialist Association (ASG) will ask next week in the Parliament of the Canary Islands about the status of processing the file for the declaration of the Silbo Gomero as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) of the islands.
In a press release, the training has explained that more than two years have passed since the request was transferred to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, without yet receiving a response, beyond the communication of the start of the procedure in February of this year.
Here, the deputy and president of the Cabildo de La Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo, recalled that this language has been a World Heritage Site since 2009, in addition to being the only one included in the compulsory education curriculum in the Canary Islands since 1999.
“We want to know where it is and, at the same time, ask for speed in the face of a request made by the Bearing Community of the Gomero Whistle,” he asserted.
