The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, highlighted the support that the Corporation provides to the municipalities of the Island and that “it has been reinforced during this mandate with the launch of the Office of Comprehensive Assistance to Municipalities to offer a better neighbor service. In 2021 alone, more than 500 requests from municipalities were attended to for advice and support for various procedures related to the economic, legal and technical field. In addition, other actions were promoted through this office, provided for in the Municipal Modernization Plan, with which the Cabildo reinforces its support on such relevant issues as cybersecurity, electronic administration, accessibility or the improvement of the digital capacities of the citizenship.
Pedro Martín, who participated yesterday in the closing of the Conference for Local Administrations A vision for new times, recalled that although this office is aimed especially at municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, in practice 80% of the municipalities of the Island request its services, “which accounts for the value it provides”. Also participating in the event were the president of the Canarian Federation of Municipalities, Mari Brito, the second vice president and Minister of Finance, Berta Pérez, and the general director of the Democracy and Local Government Foundation, Alfredo Galán.
