The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will proceed shortly to remove two specimens of maritime pine located on Benahoare street in the La Salud neighborhood due to their poor state of conservation and the consequent danger they may pose.
It should be remembered that, in the middle of last August, a large tree collapsed on this same road, “without causing material damage or damage to people”, recalled the councilor responsible for Environmental Sustainability and Public Services, Carlos Tarife.
Due to this event, the management area commissioned a report on the state of the rest of the trees on said street, concluding that “two more trees that have been detected to be in poor condition must be removed, which is will do very soon, “said the mayor in this regard.
Specifically, the report states that both specimens of Casuarina equisetifolia present “open wounds at the base and in the first meter of the trunk”, as well as “symptoms of dog urination”, and that they are “unstructured due to old fractures of the branches”, one of them also suffering the effects of the container fire, so its removal and replacement by a smaller species is recommended.
Precisely, yesterday, it was also reported from the social networks of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the fall and the removal of several branches from a tree on a car on Ganivet street.
The capital municipality currently has some 27,600 trees and some 19,300 palm trees throughout its territory.
