The Island Vice President and Councilor for Roads of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Enrique Arriagaassures that his area has «a technical report that supports the closing of the exit of The Board of Trustees (towards the TF-5) due to serious danger to traffic”, and stresses that “since 2016 there have been in that area 69 accidentsas recorded in the database of the civil Guard». Arriaga thus responds to the complaints of the Municipality of Los Realejos for the closure of this exit to the TF-5 and insists that the two proposals put forward by the Consistory to reopen it “do not comply with current traffic regulations and are an unaffordable risk for any administration.”
“The technical reports that it has the Cabildo of Tenerife certify the impossibility of implementing any of the alternatives proposed by The City Council of Los Realejos for the reopening of the incorporation that existed from the Camino del Patronato towards the TF-5. The two options fail to comply with current traffic regulations and pose a serious danger to traffic and road safety, “underlines the head of the island’s roads.
Arriaga insists that the alternatives proposed by The City Council of Los Realejos “They are not viable either, they do not comply with current traffic regulations and, like the exit that existed, they would be a risk to road safety.” The Island Director of Highways, Tomás Félix Garcíaadds that the technical reports “clearly detail the connections that must be made through an acceleration lane with established minimum measures and conditions that, in neither of the two real alternatives, can be carried out, in addition to skipping one of them horizontal signage and a continuous line.
Roads urges the City Council to implement the alternative included in the PGO realejero
“The realejero City Council intends to make vehicles coexist in the same section that from the El Patronato road must accelerate to join the trunk of the TF-5 with others that, circulating along this lane, they must reduce their speed to access the link to Los Realejos. It is evident that the vehicle that accesses from the El Patronato road must adapt its speed to the vehicles that precede it and that circulate at low speed, with the risk of accidents due to rear”, he explains. Thomas Felix Garcia.
From the area it is recalled that the rehabilitation that the Council carried out on the TF-5 has improved “not only the state of the road surface of a good part of the trunk of the road and many of its junctions, but it has also allowed this road to adapt to existing regulations”. Those responsible for Carreteras del Cabildo consider that the possible alternatives to this access depend only on the northern City Hall: «The General Planning Plan (PGO) of Los Realejos includes the elimination of the access from the Camino del Patronato to the TF-5 and contemplated an alternative solution. For this reason, the Island Council urges the Consistory to start it up as soon as possible.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo Gonzalez (PP), had asked precisely the opposite this Wednesday: that the Cabildo de Tenerife Highways area propose a viable solution to recover that exit. And he warned that “in this matter we are not going to sit idly by and ask that from the Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife An alternative is proposed for the exit of traffic in this area of the municipality. That they take it seriously and not let it pass as a minor matter, because it is not. They have enough professionals and technical teams to already be working on solutions, since it is up to them within their competence framework».
