The Cabildo de Tenerife reported yesterday that it is waiting for the Santa Cruz City Council to respond to the request made by the Island Corporation in April to sign the agreement and cede the necessary land to convert the section into an urban crossing from the TF-180 island road between the Vuelta de los Pajaros and the Vistabella viewpoint.
The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, stated that the necessary financial endowment will be lost, and that the Cabildo has consigned this year’s budget for this purpose, if the City Council does not sign the agreement and provide the land before end of the year.
Arriaga pointed out that, as he has said on previous occasions, “for the Cabildo this is a fundamental and priority action that will improve traffic problems in the area and give more security to pedestrians who travel through this section of the general highway on a daily basis. , but if the Consistory does not do its part, it will be impossible to start the works”.
Meanwhile, the insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, stressed that “it is not understood how the City Council delays the actions so much. At last it has been possible to solve the obstacles that existed since the last mandate in the drafting of the project and now, due to inaction by the City Council, the money consigned can be lost and some works that have been claimed for almost a decade by the residents of the area can be delayed and road users”.
€11,523,161
The intervention planned by the Cabildo de Tenerife for the conditioning of the TF-180 contemplates, specifically, the transformation of the road and its conversion into an urban road, which will mean a reorganization of traffic, the provision of more parking spaces depending on the width of the road, as well as sidewalks, in addition to the installation of planters and new urban furniture, lighting, telephone and telecommunications. The work has a budget of 11,523,161 euros, of which the Island Council would contribute 8,406,190 euros, which represents 73% of the total project.
Likewise, the road will consist of two lanes in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and one in the direction of La Laguna.
