The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife has approved that the Mobility area invest 562,669 euros in the improvement of 25 bus stops, one in Candelaria and the rest in Granadilla, with a five-month execution period for the works.
The First Vice President and Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, explains in a note that the main objective of this action is to improve accessibility to public transport, improve its safety and make it more comfortable for users.
“For this, important interventions will be carried out in most of them with the extension of the entrances and exits of the lines of the stops, the widening of sidings and sidewalks, the placement of buttoned pavement, the creation of accessible pedestrian itineraries”, indicates Arriaga.
In addition, in some cases, explains the counselor, “the canopies will be relocated or rehabilitated, ischial supports and new street furniture will be placed.”
The island director of Highways, José Alberto León, specifies that there are nearly 4,000 stops on the island, of which more than 300 are highly used, and expresses that “in this legislature the Mobility area has not stopped acting on them , making a significant investment to achieve this, it is about making public transport more attractive and comfortable for users”.
The bus stops where accessibility is going to be improved are located on the banks of the TF-252 island roads, which runs from the Carretera General del Sur to Igueste de Candelaria, on the TF-64, from Granadilla to El Médano. , and the TF-643, from El Médano to Los Abrigos.
