SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved this week in the Governing Council the regulatory bases and the call for a line of aid aimed at improving the competitiveness of the island’s retail trade and which will have a multi-year budget (2022-2023) of 925,000 euros, which may be extended up to 1,245,000 euros.
Catering and personal service establishments may also benefit from these subsidies.
The Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, explains in a note that with this line of aid, the call for which will come out in the coming weeks, the aim is to “favor the adaptation of the Tenerife business fabric to the new digital economy, supporting the self-employed and SMEs from different sectors in their modernisation, renewal and consolidation and increase in their competitiveness”.
In total, two types of projects are established. The first, related to the digitization of businesses, in which the introduction of tools that favor the use of multichannels will be valued, and the other focused on the transformation, modernization and improvement of commercial establishments, in which projects related to the improvement of the presentation of products, the offer of differentiated services, the enhancement of the image of the premises, or any initiative that entails greater differentiation and provides added value.
“The objective in both cases is to adapt the business fabric to the new demands and needs of consumers and improve their shopping experience”, adds the minister, who recalls that “online promotion and sales continue to be a pending issue for many businesses and establishments on the island, which was an added difficulty in guaranteeing their viability during the pandemic”.
The maximum amount of the subsidy to be awarded for each of the modalities will be 50% of the eligible investment made with a limit of 5,000 euros. Therefore, in case of requesting a subsidy in both modalities, the maximum amount to be received will be 10,000 euros.
