SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep. 6 (EUROPE PRESS) –

Turismo de Canarias will present at the ‘San Sebastián International Film Festival’ on September 19 the adventure reality show ‘Discovering Canary Islands’, an original content from Rakuten TV, which the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands has promoted within its destination promotion strategy under newer and more notorious formulas.

Presented by Pilar Rubio, this program will explore the most incredible and surprising myths of the Canary Islands and its 8 contestants, originally from 8 different European countries, who will learn more about local culture and traditions.

A journey of discovery, conceived and co-produced by Rakuten TV, Atlantia Media and Initiative/Mediabrands Content Studio, strategic ‘partners’ of Turismo de Canarias that, for 6 episodes, will be full of tests and enigmas that will show the charms of the region to its spectators.

With the appointment, next September 19 at the Victoria Eugenia Theater in San Sebastián, it will be the first time that this important festival, which celebrates its 70th edition, presents the ‘premiere’ of an adventure reality show.

The gala that will host the premiere is also promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, through its public company Promotur, the Ministry reports in a note.

The date also coincides with the first anniversary of the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, “so it will be an excellent opportunity to influence the beauty of this island territory,” according to the counselor, Yaiza Castilla.

The Minister of Tourism has valued the strategy that is being followed through the public company of “developing new advertising formulas to publicize the destination with greater notoriety and international projection through content marketing, a technique that consists of create, disseminate and share content from the Canary Islands that is of greater interest to the target audience, instead of traditional advertising pieces”.

It will be on October 13 when the first edition of ‘Discovering Canary Islands’ joins the Rakuten Originals collection, which presents original, exclusive and free content from Rakuten TV in a total of 42 European countries, through stories of optimism , empowerment and diversity that reflect the company’s DNA.

110 MILLION HOUSEHOLDS IN 42 COUNTRIES

As it is an original Rakuten TV production, it is guaranteed to be broadcast in more than 110 million homes in 42 countries, “which will undoubtedly help position the Canary Islands as an avant-garde tourist destination,” says Castilla.

In addition, the reality show will be available exclusively in the linear and on-demand programming of the platform, which guarantees its permanence over time in the international arena.

The head of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands has highlighted that Discovering Canary Islands will allow not only the Canarian landscapes to be known, but also its culture and local traditions.

“The production will highlight values ​​such as the spirit of adventure, of self-improvement, vitality, enjoyment, exaltation of the surroundings and care for the environment, which fit perfectly with the discourse of the Canary Islands brand,” he says.

The program has the participation of eight prominent ‘influencers’ of different nationalities as contestants, who compete in various tests of strength, ingenuity and skill in a dynamic race that will tour the islands in six episodes.
