The University of La Laguna (ULL) will launch a free guidance and counseling service on sexual and reproductive matters, aimed at students of the academic institution.
The initiative will be implemented in the new academic year by the Office of the Vice President for Students, Employability and the Guajara Campuswith him LGBTIQ+ Diversity Cultural Classroomdetails the ULL.
The entity in charge of executing this pioneering service in the university environment will be the LGBTI Association* Various Canary Islandswhich has proven experience in advising on sexuality for young people, as well as in addressing sexual health in a comprehensive manner through the different services run by the Tenerife entity.
The service will be offered free of charge to students and will rotate throughout the first four-month period through the campuses.
Individual, confidential and free sessions of sexual and reproductive advice will be held, and in parallel specialized personnel will carry out rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C, with the collaboration of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The project will be formally presented within the framework of the Welcome Sessions to be held on September 27 by the LGBTIQ+ Diversity Cultural Classroom, which will be in charge of monitoring the project carried out by Diversas throughout the year with statistical data. first quarter.
The Vice-Rector for Students and Employability, Lastenia Hernández, values this initiative as “one more example of the institutional commitment” to provide its students with services that improve their conditions and have a positive effect not only on their health, but also on their values and a greater freedom.
