Punctures in the Canary Islands:

The analysis for toxic substances as well as the serological tests carried out on the young woman who last Sunday reported having suffered a possible prick at the wizards ball of the Tenerife municipality of La Guancha, have given a negative result. Seventy-two hours after his complaint at the police station of the National Police Corps of La Laguna and undergoing various medical tests that were carried out at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC), last Sunday and Monday, the results have come to confirm the first diagnosis obtained a few hours after the alleged assault: There is no presence of toxic substances in the body Also ruling out the possibility of an HIV infection or another STD, ”as this newspaper has learned.

Despite the results of the analyses, the PNational police continue with the investigations to try to clarify the facts that were denounced last Sunday afternoon.

The young woman from 22 years old, has told El Día that he has had a “very bad time, especially due to the uncertainty during these days before knowing the results of the tests, because he did not know if he had injected me with any substance or not, or if he had pricked someone before me and could infect something. «Now I am somewhat calmer, but it is a serious matter because, whether or not I have been inoculated with any drug, in the end it is an aggression. They have not found toxic, but that night, after noticing the puncture, I felt bad, dizzy and with a heavy body. I don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t been surrounded by friends,” says the victim.

Reporting is always important. although I lacked information because I had never seen myself in a similar situation. When I went to the San Benito health center in La Laguna, a nurse told me that I should have gone without showering and without changing my clothes because there are substances that can quickly disappear from the body, but traces remain on the skin and clothes. », says the young woman.

“He also told me that in the face of a possible attack of this type, when someone notices that they have been pricked, you have to locate someone you know quickly and then go to a health center. The first thing is to stay safe and not give a possible sexual aggressor the opportunity to see us alone or even lose consciousness », she asserts.

yesu case is the second that has transpired in the Canary Islands this summer –the first was denounced in Lanzarote-, Although there are no official figures. «I took the step, I denounced the facts, but I did not expect some reactions that I have read on social networks «questioning what happened to me». “The danger is real, it’s not a joke and you don’t have to be in a nightclub or have drunk alcohol; it can happen to you like it did to me at a dance where practically everyone knew each other, or any place with a crowd of people », he explains.

The victim reported that, around 3:30 a.m. last Sunday, when he was in the plaza of the aforementioned municipality of La Guancha where the magicians’ dance was being held, he noticed a puncture in his right arm after a man tripped over she. She turned around, but she couldn’t see his face before the amount of people who were in the place. At that time she did not give it much importance until, a short time later, she began to feel unwell, dizzy and somewhat tired. The young woman was able to return home accompanied by a group of friends, so she did not suffer any type of aggression after the alleged puncture reported. In the morning, upon waking up, she continued to feel discomfort, pain and inflammation in her arm, so she decided to go, first to the San Benito health center from where she was referred to the HUC to have the appropriate tests carried out in order to clarify the presence of toxic substances or some type of infection associated with the aggression.

The HUC Emergency Physicians carried out different tests, as well as other serological tests to detect or rule out the possibility of an infection, such as HIV, which he could have caught from the puncture.

However, as those results, especially the serological ones, could give a “false negative”, she was summoned the next day to carry out more tests, analyzes that finally confirmed a negative result.

The young woman points out that before denouncing the facts, she contacted some of her friends from La Guancha to find out if they knew of any case similar to hers. Her friends told her that “they had heard that a man was harassing girls, that he was trying to do something with them, but they did not know if there had been other cases like the one she had just told them about.”

Fortunately, the young woman comments that she was accompanied by her group of friends the entire night of the magician’s ball and that “at no time were they left alone.”
