The Puerto Rican government (PSOE-ACP) has taken a key step, with the full support of the PP and CC, so that the lands of the old bus station return to the property of the municipality. There is a file approved since 2014 by the Ministry of Public Works of the Government of Spain in which the City Council was invited to proceed with the request for the reversion of the seven parcels of which the registration situation of these lands is made up.
For the mayor of the city, Marco González (PSOE), «it is an inexcusable and necessary step to be able to take control of these lands and calmly plan the best destination of this space that has to be put at the service of the city’s progress». The Sustainable City area has already commissioned a feasibility study so that these lands can house both the new auditorium and a car park.
The municipal government has asked the management of the Porto Consortium to analyze the different models of public-private collaboration existing in our country for the management of this type of infrastructure so that “they can be combined in the most effective and efficient way possible both public and private interests that may occur on the same plot.
The Councilor for Heritage, Julia Navas, thanked the support of all the groups so that this agreement could go ahead unanimously, which makes it possible for this space to return to municipal hands “in a few months”: “Conscientious work has been done from the area and in communication with the rest of the administrations, both the State and the Autonomous Community, so that this process can be accelerated as much as possible and before the end of the year it will once again appear within the municipal heritage».
The start of a participatory process has also been announced to determine the best use for this plot located in the center of the city and with good communication links and which also adjoins the new bus station.
