SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31 Aug. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The project for the surface rehabilitation of the surface of the island road TF-662, which connects Guaza with Cactus Park in the municipality of Arona and is in public information, has a budget item of 1,412,102 euros by the Roads area of the Cabildo.
The First Vice President and Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, highlights in a note that the works, which are expected to begin by the end of the year, represent an important intervention on this road, which is an alternative for drivers heading to Los Cristianos from Guaza or The Camel.
Arriaga explains that the work includes not only the rehabilitation and asphalting of the platform surface, but also the improvement of the drainage elements, the vehicle containment systems and the road retaining wall.
The councilor recalls that “throughout this mandate, there has been a systematic intervention in the rehabilitation of the island’s road network, which was in a very deteriorated state as a result of intensive use and poor maintenance”, while adding that “in many roads that had not been invested in for decades”.
The Island Director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, indicates that last year emergency action had to be taken on a section of this road due to the risk that one of the embankments could collapse and fall onto the TF-1, “and now an intervention is made to improve driving comfort and, what is more important, to increase road safety”.
The Highways area estimates that the works will begin in December of this year with an expected execution period of four months.
