SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 Aug. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute of Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS), has made public the bases that will govern the internal tourism program thanks to which 576 people over 65 with limited resources will be able to access leisure and cultural activities from an integrating perspective in different points of the island.
This subsidy, which amounts to more than 259,000 euros, is intended for the island’s town councils and dependent public bodies, which will be in charge of presenting the applications and evaluating and choosing the participants, based on the socioeconomic criteria established by the IASS in the bases, which were published in the Provincial Bulletin of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (BOP) on August 27.
The Minister of Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, highlights in a note the work done to provide this group with a few days of vacation.
“Not only do we want the older people of Tenerife to be able to spend a few days disconnecting, but we also seek to generate meeting spaces, favoring active aging, integration and favoring the improvement of their quality of life”, he comments.
In addition, Franquet explains that in this edition, the first after the pandemic, “the aim was to promote domestic tourism, favoring the economic reactivation of the island and generating a symbiosis with the hotel sector, demonstrating that social action is profitable and favors all and all”.
Among the requirements that the beneficiaries must meet is being over 65 years of age, having been registered in the municipality for two years and not exceeding a certain economic income, which ranges from 8,106.28 euros per year, in the case of family units of a single member, up to 19,455.24 euros for units with three or more members.
Regarding the distribution of places and with the purpose of guaranteeing that it is equitable, the Cabildo agrees to grant a minimum of 10 places to each of the requesting municipalities, provided that the applicants meet the required requirements, while the remaining places are will be distributed based on the percentage of the population over 64 years of age in the census of each locality
From the IASS they recall the importance of the town councils disseminating this campaign through the means at their disposal in order to make this subsidy known to the group to which it is directed, since, once the call has been published, the deadline for presenting the applications will be 20 business days.
Through this program, a vacation option will be offered in the north of the island for those who live in the south and a proposal in the south for citizens from the north.
The places granted include full board accommodation, transportation from the municipality of residence and insurance, and complementary leisure and free time activities will be included.
