Restrictions, zero, freedom one hundred. This is how the XXXVII edition of the Pinolere Craft Fair will be held this year, in La Orotava, which will have 151 craft stalls and in which “absolute normality” is recovered after the two years of the pandemic and with it all the acts that they include exhibitions, music, tributes, gastronomic activities and educational workshops, in addition to the traditional tavern managed by the Pinolere Cultural Association.
This was confirmed yesterday by the mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares, during the presentation of the program that will take place on September 2, 3 and 4 at the ethnographic site from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will be dedicated to “living treasures”.
In this framework and accompanied by the manager and president of the aforementioned Association, Jesús García and Leoncio Luis, respectively, the president announced that a project will soon be presented that seeks to recover the European and international character that the exhibition had years ago with the objective “to put Pinolere back in the world” since it is “the most educational, cultural, pedagogical and complete fair in the Canary Islands”.
Jesús García specified that on Friday, at the opening ceremony, the different distinctions will be awarded. First, they will be received by the 8 master craftsmen of the Canary Islands, a living treasure per island, together with their successor student, heir to the trade. Then it will be the turn of the Cho Feriantes de Honor 2022 and finally, the XIX Villa de La Orotava Craft and Heritage Award. There will also be a performance by the Pataphysical group that will present the theme song for this edition.
That same day two exhibitions will be released: Musical Instruments in the History of the Guanche People. Inspired by the work of Juan Bethencourt Alfonso and Bottles, gallons, jugs and jugs.
Saturday will be dedicated entirely to the municipality of Los Realejos with a tribute for its work in preserving traditions, with special recognition to the Hermanos Toste pyrotechnics and the performance of the Atabara folk music group, while on Sunday there will be the folk twinning between the Parranda El Chaboco de Pinolere and the folkloric group Ben-Gara de Garachico, and the Orquestina Pinolere will also perform.
For those who do not want to take the car, there will be a free bus service that will leave from Sor Soledad Cobián Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
