The seventh edition of Tenerife Summer Carnival brings news this year and one of the main ones is the election of a new figure: the ambassador, whose role will be to reinforce the projection and promotion of these identity festivities of Puerto de la Cruz. Her election will be on Wednesday, September 7, at the same time as the election of the children’s throne.
The festive program was announced yesterday at the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complex, which will serve as the setting for the election gala of the King of Carnival, one of the high points of a Carnival that will be held on September 9 in this same venue. The presentation of the 14 candidates who aspire to the center will be a week before, on day 2.
The City Council and under the direction for the second consecutive year of Enrique Camacho from Porto, have prepared a whole program where streets and squares resume their prominence so that people, “those who really make the party that identifies us so much, once again have their space and the mascaritas put the sauce back on this, which is a great party that comes from within the soul of the groups and collectives of Porto”, said the mayor, Marco González.
As is customary, Enrique Camacho did not want to reveal many details of this gala that monopolized a lot of interest, “but not the only one because if there is something that has always stood out in this Porto Carnival, it is its ability to adapt, reinvent itself and never stop surprising for becoming an unavoidable appointment for the people of Tenerife”.
The program begins on Monday 28 with the inauguration of the exhibition of Carnival costumes and fantasies in the Martiánez Shopping Center and will continue during the first week with parades through the most visited places in the city. The first weekend will be dedicated to families with all kinds of activities for the little ones.
In the second week there is time for reflection and debate with the IV Carnival Trends Forum which, as in previous editions, will bring together everyone and all those voices that have so much to say about the present and future of carnival next day 8. And that second weekend that will host the King’s gala, will give way to the first of the two Carnival nights with the 90’s Party on Friday and with the float party on Saturday 10 that will meet at Martiánez beach to all those who were left with the desire to take their costume out for a walk in winter to live this party to the fullest in its rightful place: the street.
On Sunday the 11th, starting at 5:00 p.m., there will be a massive Coso from the Plaza del Charco to the Paseo de Colón, as the end of the celebration for a VII edition that aspires to consolidate a brand that is already part of the calendar of all good carnival goers and to put “solid foundations for Tenerife to have an attractive and unique event to continue enjoying what sets us apart, the popular culture for residents and visitors to enjoy together and in harmony an experience that they will undoubtedly repeat”.
