The Cabildo trains 55 people in renewable energies and technologies

The council, through the Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (Fifede), imparts 3,095 hours of training related to new employment niches, through six courses in which a total of 55 people participated. The theme has to do with renewable energies and new technologies.

Maintenance of wind turbines, repair of electrical and electronic equipment, photovoltaic self-consumption systems and vehicle recharging points, programming of web design, maintenance of electric vehicles and job orientation make up the content of the courses that are being run now and contemplate between 400 and 650 training hours.

To them will be added, starting in September, another four thematic courses on ecological agriculture, intercultural mediation, rural tourism and promotion for the effective equality of men and women, totaling 1,580 hours.

The island councilor for Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, explains that it is an offer launched for the first time this year to help reactivate the labor market. She explains Ella Baso that “there is a constant evolution because there are many new sectors linked to sustainability, digitization and modernization in which there is a growing demand for specialized professionals.” For this reason, adds the counselor, “the Cabildo renews the training offer with a view to adjusting it as much as possible to the new needs and demands of companies.” In addition, she concludes, “we help improve people’s employability.”

driving licenses

Fifede carries out other training actions in parallel with which it tries to respond to the training demands of users, who need to have accreditation in certain studies to be able to join the world of work.

In this context, so far this year two courses have been given to obtain driving licenses type C and D, plus the CAP, and a third on handling forklifts and lifting platforms. In total, more than 360 hours to a total of 35 people.

With the same objective of improving employability, the Cabildo developed the project Lanzaderas de Empleo, a job orientation program that seeks to increase the job possibilities of young people between 18 and 30 years of age from different parts of the Island. The march in the municipalities of Garachico, La Victoria de Acentejo and Adeje, had 69 participants, of whom 29 managed to find employment.

For more information on the training actions for employment that the Cabildo imparts, interested persons can consult the page Fifede.org.
