SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife will condition the TF-12 island road, which joins the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna through the Anaga dorsal.

The project is currently on public display, has a budget of 4,069,354 euros and an execution period of 12 months, and the works specifically comprise from kilometer 9.46 to 28.6, between El Bailadero and Las Mercedes .

The first vice president and counselor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, indicates in a note that the pavement of the road will be completely replaced, work will be done on the gutters, bus stops and the containment elements of this insular road will be improved.

In addition, on this occasion, the Innovation area will take advantage of the installation of fiber optics planned within the insular telecommunications ring that guarantees the connectivity of the different population centers that are in the massif. For this, 595,000 euros will be allocated.

The counselor insists that “the project has been carried out taking into special consideration that the island road runs through the heart of the Biosphere Reserve and its incalculable environmental value.”

For this reason, he comments, “materials and techniques will be used in the execution of the work that allow reducing the carbon footprint, such as the recycling of asphalt”.

Arriaga also points out that “it is a mountain road that, after the passing of the years, requires significant rehabilitation to respond to both the residents and the tourists who use it on a daily basis, since the road currently has sinkholes, potholes and other shortcomings that compromise road safety”.

The island’s Director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, explains that “there are constant meetings with the different neighborhood groups in the area, and these actions come to respond to some of their claims”, to which he adds that “for the area it is very important to work in a coordinated way and hand in hand with the associations of the different villages”.
