This project adjoins a protected natural area, recalls the environmental association in a statement this Thursday, in which it also warns of the possibility that it will be affected by the revision of the demarcation that is currently being appealed to the courts.

In June 2022, the association officially requested to receive information about the project, which is currently in the excavation and earthmoving phase.

As a registered environmental association, the administration has the legal obligation to attend to any request related to any urban project, but the City Council has not responded to the request within the established period, he adds.

For this reason, and in accordance with the association’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding administrations that choose not to comply with transparency laws, the matter has been reported to the Transparency and Good Governance Council.

The sanctioning regime provides, in the case of a very serious infraction, the imposition of a fine amounting to one to three months’ salary, dismissal from the post or disqualification for a period of between five and ten years.

On previous occasions, the City Council of Granadilla de Abona has used “various excuses” to avoid disclosing information related to the projects of the promoter “Grupo Viqueira”, says the environmental association.
