ALDI continues to advance in its expansion plan in the Canary Islands with the inauguration, yesterday, of its first store in Adeje, at number 37 Avenida Barranco de Las Torres. It is the fourth in Tenerife, after the opening, last July, of its first four supermarkets, two in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria, and a store in Las Chafiras, already in this month of August.
The new ALDI store is open from Monday to Sunday – from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. – to offer residents of Adeje, as well as those of nearby municipalities, a new convenient and simple shopping option, with quality products at lowest price possible. This new space where you can make a complete weekly purchase has a commercial area of more than 1,500 square meters and has a car park with 130 spaces, including four with charging points for electric vehicles. The Adeje supermarket has a team of 27 collaborators.
Within the framework of ALDI’s commitment to energy efficiency and respect for the environment, the new supermarket has solar panels that allow 97% of the energy generated to be used by the store itself. In addition, the establishment is equipped with LED lighting and home automation, with the aim of avoiding product losses due to breakdowns and improving the operation of lighting and air conditioning. The facilities use CO2 as refrigerant gas, a more sustainable and efficient alternative to other options available on the market.
During the inauguration of the Adeje store, the head of ALDI’s Expansion in the Canary Islands, Agustín Estades, highlighted the generation of local employment as one of the pillars of ALDI’s presence in the Canary Islands. “The company’s commitment to the Canary Islands is manifested through the promotion of employment in the towns and islands where we settle, but also with our support for local producers, who are a fundamental pillar of our business model,” he assured. .
The inauguration of the new store was attended by the Councilor for Economic Development of the Adeje City Council, Raquel Rodríguez, who thanked “the close collaboration that ALDI has maintained with the City Council to staff this new establishment in our municipality”.
ALDI will open another establishment in September, in Granadilla de Abona. By the end of the year, the chain will have generated more than 240 jobs in the region.
