The fire declared this Wednesday in La Laguna and that it has moved towards La Esperanza is in the process of being stabilized, since the means of extinction have managed to contain the flames and that they do not exceed the Agua García highway, the TF-226.
This has been advanced to Efe by the mayors of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, and of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who are following first-hand the work of the fire-fighting device.
The fire, which has affected an area of approximately 3 hectares, has forced the eviction of some 25 residents in the areas of Las Erillas and Juan Fernández.
The importance of the fire not exceeding the aforementioned road is that next to it there is a wooded area with dense vegetation, so “we would talk about bigger things,” says Escolástico Gil.
“We are calmer,” admits the mayor of El Rosario, given that the fire “seems stabilized.”
The areas of Las Erillas and Juan Fernández continue to be evacuated, although “it seems that the news is good,” he adds, so that if nothing changes, the affected residents could return to their homes “in the next few hours.”
Luis Yeray Gutiérrez has stressed that “the main concern” was that the fire jumped the road, as it would have been “uncontrollable” if it reached the high mountain.
