Rifirrafe of Government and opposition for “the political use” of an autistic

PSOE and Citizens of Granadilla denounced on Monday the expulsion of an autistic child from the inclusive leisure camp organized by the City Council “for not having staff to attend to him.” Jennifer Miranda, socialist spokesperson, came to describe the events as “very serious” and added that this expulsion “denotes an absolute lack of empathy with people who need special care and their families.” Nothing was like that. At least that is what the municipal government of Granada has clarified in a statement in which it shows its outrage at “seeing how such a vulnerable group is used to manipulate and distort the inclusive leisure camp service that families need so much.”

The explanatory note from the southern Consistory accuses these two formations of “lack of scruples” to use such a vulnerable group for political purposes. He details that after consulting the company that runs the camp in El Médano, it can be concluded that “it is not true that any child was expelled on the first day of camp.” «In the camp there are kids with multiple functional diversities, each one with different grades. In cases in which a child does not adapt, due to various circumstances, the families are spoken to and explained, who understand it perfectly, as has happened this summer in two specific cases, one in August and the other in July”, specifies the City Council of Granada.

Most of the children and young people in this camp have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). «The word expulsion is very serious and is not synonymous with inclusion, which is the objective of this camp. We must remember that the quota is 25 children and we have five monitors, their only objective and hope being the full inclusion of young people in the different activities they carry out and the reconciliation of families, “says the note from the local government, formed Canary Coalition and Popular Party, who calls “sadness” the fact of “having to see and hear these words” and accusations made by these two parties that are in opposition.

“Once again the political parties PSOE and Ciudadanos de Granadilla lie, trying to manipulate public opinion, showing their lack of scruples,” emphasizes the municipal government statement, which adds that “with these types of statements they show that they continue aimlessly and disoriented, without assuming that every day they lose the confidence of the citizens». “You cannot fall so low, since with these types of complaints and statements they do not harm a government group, but rather go against a company based in the municipality, which has a large number of professionals who carry out a magnificent work. That the PSOE and Ciudadanos maliciously use children with ASD to engage in embarrassing and undignified politics. The hunger games begin, the elections are approaching and they will continue to lie so that something remains, to manipulate and deceive,” the clarification concludes.
