SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Agents of the National Police have arrested in Arona, on the island of Tenerife, a fugitive wanted for drug trafficking and sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom.
The arrest occurred after the British National Crime Agency (NCA) began an investigation last April and informed the National Police’s specialized fugitive locator agents of the possible escape to Spain of a fugitive, as reported by the police force in a press release.
Specifically, the fugitive was wanted for some events that occurred in 2022 after being sentenced to life imprisonment for being the leader of a criminal organization that, based in Scotland, was dedicated to the preparation and storage of large shipments of cocaine and diamorphine, as well as its subsequent distribution throughout the Scottish geography.
Thus, after the agents carried out multiple steps in several Spanish cities such as Alicante, Malaga and Ibiza, they finally located him on the island of Tenerife where he was located and detained in the town of Arona.
