The Department of Ecological Transition of the City Council of El Rosario plans the rehabilitation of the so-called Las Rosas-Lomo Pelado Environmental Building, better known in the area as the old school of folklore. It seeks to install an environmental training center there for courses on agroecology, composting, rural development…, as well as for training plans in alternation with employment (PFAE) or for the delivery of certificates of professionalism, among other possibilities.
From the Consistory of Rosario they calculate the necessary funds for the action at just over 343,500 euros, which is part of the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (Local Pirep). Of the total amount, 85% would be covered by the Ministry of Transport and Mobility, while the remaining 15% would be covered by the City Council of El Rosario.
The action is also part of the Reactiva Canarias Plan within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the Next Generation funds of the European Union. It has been established that this project will end before the end of the 2023 financial year.
It should be remembered that Lomo Pelado already had a converted space for training purposes. In that other case, it is a project from the past mandate that allowed the old school in the area to become a Comprehensive Training and Employment Center. That action was carried out after the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) awarded a grant to the El Rosario City Council to develop a training and employability plan, since it was the student-workers of this project who carried out the work.
That school was in disuse after the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands disaffected the installation as a teaching center, due to the gradual loss of students. From that moment on, the Employment Department of the El Rosario City Council requested the return of the property to the Consistory for its reconversion into a space in which certain employment courses could be offered. Now, if all goes according to plan, a second training space will be added.
