A 63-year-old woman dies after falling into the sea in Los Gigantes



A 63-year-old woman lost her life this Thursday, August 18, at the Los Gigantes Marina, in Santiago del Teide (Tenerife), after falling into the sea. Likewise, a man, also 63 years old, was rescued with moderate chest trauma.

The events took place around 12:00 p.m., when the Emergency and Security Coordination Center of the Government of the Canary Islands (CECOES 1-1-2) received an alert call informing that a boat had managed to rescue from the water these two people who had fallen into the sea and were being transferred to the marina.

The necessary emergency resources were immediately activated. Health workers from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) traveled to the scene with a sanitized ambulance and another basic life support. The staff, with the collaboration of the aforementioned Primary Care staff, assessed and assisted the wounded man who was transferred to the Hospiten Sur University Hospital and confirmed the death of the woman.

The firefighters of the Consortium collaborated with the emergency services. And the Civil Guard instructed the corresponding proceedings and took charge of the body until the arrival of the judicial authority.
