The Council of Island Government yesterday approved the public tender for the installation of a new tourist signage in the municipalities of Isla Baja (Garachico, Los Silos, El Tanque and Buenavista del Norte). The works, amounting to 459,586 euros, will have an execution period of eight months and will be fully financed by the island corporation, as reported by this institution in a note.
The action is part of the Insular Plan for Smart Tourist Signage, which aims to renew the tourist information signs of Tenerife so that they have a unified image and design, and easily recognizable. This is clarified by the island director of Tourism, Laura Castro, who adds that “the new design of the signage will provide a common visual identity so that it is identifiable not only as tourist information signs, but as a destination brand.” And she adds: “Providing an attractive and modern orientation towards the different points of interest offered by the respective municipalities”, she adds.
Castro highlights the collaboration of the municipalities of Isla Baja to carry out these works. For its development, a diagnosis of the existing signage in each of the municipalities has been previously prepared, and from there the proposals for the renewal and updating of the signs have been established, as well as the provision of new ones.
An analysis has also been carried out on its most suitable location, in order to guarantee the safety and comfort of drivers “so that they have attractive tourist signage, in strategic places, that guarantee good visibility, and that they can easily locate comfort the goods of cultural, patrimonial and landscape interest of the Region in a fast and useful way, that motivates them to visit and make a stop in the environment».
“Both tourists and the local population, by having uniform signage, will have more facilities to identify tourist information,” highlights Castro, who considers that “this is a factor that provides confidence, helps to optimize their time and avoids mishaps.” as disorientation when locating the most outstanding points and services to discover and enjoy».
