The National Police has arrested a 51-year-old man in Tenerife for a crime of fraud by using his uncle’s bank card without permission to withdraw 3,000 euros, taking advantage of the fact that he was admitted to the hospital, as reported by the Superior Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands in a press release.
The events took place between December 2021 and last July, when the victim was in a hospital, which is why her nephew took care of her belongings, who during all this time had access to her bank card and even to the PIN number of the same, which he kept written on a piece of paper in his wallet.
In total, the author of the facts made refunds and payments for a total of more than 3,000 euros fraudulently, as he did not have the permission of his legitimate owner to do so.
For his part, upon leaving the hospital, the victim recovered his personal belongings and verified the status of his bank account, observing the embezzlement that had occurred.
Then, he brought the facts to the attention of the National Police, who proceeded to arrest his nephew, who recognized that he had been the one who had made the fraudulent movements.
