Two arrested after stealing the bag of a woman who was going to the doctor at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands



Agents of the National Police have arrested a woman and a man aged 41 and 39, both with police records, for stealing the bag of a 60-year-old woman in the area of ​​the University Hospital of the Canary Islands, for which they are accused of a crime of robbery with violence or intimidation.

The events occurred days ago in the vicinity of the aforementioned health center. The victim, who was going to the doctor, was approached by a man who got out of a car, driven by a woman. Quickly, a struggle began that ended with the patient on the ground.

She asked the thief not to take the medical documentation she had in her bag, as it was very important. However, the man snatched her bag as well, fleeing aboard the vehicle that her buddy was driving.

Agents of the National Police displaced to the place of the robbery assisted the woman and provided the rest of the patrols with the physical description of the alleged perpetrators of the violent robbery and of the vehicle used. Moments later, a National Police patrol located the car on Elías Bacallado street in the capital of Tenerife, stopping it and proceeding to arrest the couple who was occupying it.

In their possession they found the victim’s credit card and various documents. Later, on Manuel Ramos Vela street, they also located the bag that, in police stations, was given to him.

The detainees, together with the report prepared for this purpose, were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority. The actions were carried out by national police officers from the Citizen Security Brigade of the Provincial Police Station of the National Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
