The leisure and recreation area of the Viña Los Frailes Urbanization, San Juan Bosco Park, 2,300 square meters, has been completely rehabilitated, as reported yesterday by Municipality of La Orotava. “The improvement and renovation works of this recreational-sports space began at the end of last January and have involved an investment of 145,000 euros in the municipal coffers,” the Consistory detailed in a note. The overall reform project was also drafted by the municipal technical office.
This space, specifically located on Avenida República Venezuela in the aforementioned development, is divided into four parts: an open-plan area dedicated to a square, where benches, planters and traditional children’s games are located; another area of about 200 square meters dedicated to sports, fenced to guarantee the safety of the rest of the users; the green areas that maintain the existing vegetation and provide shade, and the 400 square meter playground with integration games and safety flooring throughout its surface. This action has been taken advantage of to also improve the pipes and all the lighting.
A park with history
“The City Council of La Orotava continues with its plan to improve the municipal playgrounds, as well as their accessibility,” says the press release sent yesterday. For this reason, the children’s playground located in the Viña Los Frailes urbanization, one of the first in the municipality, has been completely renovated, taking advantage of this action to make it also fully inclusive and to facilitate its use by all children.
The Mayor of Orota, Francis Linares, emphasizes that this action is an “important bet of the City Council, and especially in this gaming area that had become obsolete and presented significant deterioration due to the passage of time.” Likewise, he underlines that another project of a more sporty nature was planned in this space, but that it has been decided to this more complete option meeting the demands of the residents themselves, who are the ones who will really enjoy this leisure complex.
The mayor indicates that, although some playgrounds in the municipality already have inclusive elements, “we will continue to bet on progressively adapting them, so that they are accessible and can be enjoyed by young users alike.”
From the Orotavense Consistory they also took stock in the press release about their leisure facilities. “La Orotava currently has 56 playgrounds distributed throughout the different urban centers of the municipality, and this year action is being taken to improve those that are in worse condition, such as San Antonio and Las Candias, among many others,” they specify. . “In all the new improvement actions, new inclusive elements are being incorporated in order to promote integration,” says the City Council.
