The Governing Board of Municipality of La Laguna has approved, in an extraordinary session, the procedure for the contracting of the new service of maintenance, conservation, reform and improvement of municipal roads and public spaces. With the approval of the processing, the tender is given free rein, with a base budget of 21,200,000 euros until 2026.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stressed that the investment planned for the next four years will translate “into a substantial improvement in the accessibility and safety of the municipal road network, because the work included includes the resurfacing of roads, conditioning of sidewalks, accessibility and renewal of signage, among many other issues”.
The local councilor highlighted the “effort” that has been made in the last three years to “act in the different neighborhoods and towns of the municipality, depending on the degree of urgency of each place”, and affirmed that, with the next service, ” what we intend is to reinforce the interventions to offer the greatest security guarantees on all our roads”. “This is a priority for our Government team and, although we have already made great progress, resurfacing roads that have not been touched for, for example, more than 20 years, there are still needs that we hope to solve with the new contract,” he pointed out.
Once the Government Board has given the green light to the file for contracting and the opening of the award process through an open procedure, the Councilor for Works, Josimar Hernández, trusts that the tender will be published “as soon as possible” to be able to start the process and, thus, finish with its award “in the shortest possible time”. The mayor stressed that the planned expenditure implies “a significant economic injection that improves investment (in 2021 3,021,683 euros were dedicated to this chapter)”, because, among other novelties, “now the maintenance of the roads of the Casco has been included ”, for which he is confident of exceeding the annual average of actions recorded (in 2021 there were 47).
With the new contract, it seeks to solve “to a large extent” the main needs that remain pending, for which the City Council will allocate 21.2 million until 2026. By annuities, for the remainder of the year an amount of 1,325 has been approved. 000 euros (for the months of September and November), while contemplating an item of 5.3 million per year until 2025. Added to these amounts are the 3,975,000 euros of the last period (from December 1, 2025 to December 31, August 2026).
