the area of Social Welfare de La Laguna has approved allocating 21,494.71 euros to finance Taco’s Second Chance School (E2O), an initiative of the Don Bosco Foundation that opens a door to the future for young people between the ages of 16 and 29 who have not finished ESO , facilitating their educational return and labor insertion. The project, which takes place in the municipal facilities of the Colegio Antigua Filial, located on Calle Aguere de Taco, is aimed at young people from different towns and neighborhoods in the municipality and has up to 40 places.
This E2O, the first of its kind accredited in the Canary Islands, “has proven to be an effective instrument for young people who have dropped out of compulsory education and who find themselves in a situation of difficulty for their social and labor insertion, in some cases with sons and daughters in their care, can regain confidence, take charge and get out of their situation of vulnerability”, highlighted the Councilor for Social Welfare, Rubens. And as the regional director of the Foundation, Miguel Ángel Rojas, explains, “young people who have prematurely left the educational system need a second chance”.
