Announcements of the closure of the Las Teresitas car parks are constant this summer. The large influx of vehicles to the beach causes notices to be activated so that citizens stop going by car. Precisely in view of the large influx of vehicles these days, users have begun to park on the lot where the so-called tome stood, a space that already has a project to become a car park with more than 200 spaces.
The fence that protected this plot is now open on one of its sides, which is allowing this plot to be used as an extra space for beach parking. The City hall is aware of this situation, and at the moment has not replaced the fence.
A few months ago, from Public Services, a cleaning and conditioning of the place was carried out, as a previous step to the execution of the aforementioned project, at which time the space was also closed.
Right now the site has become a relief for users who go to the beach by car, although the number of vehicles that use it is far from the total number of places that are expected after the planned conditioning.
The project to convert this site into a car park was approved in June of this year, and as confirmed by the mayor of Public Services, Carlos Tarife, he is confident that the conditioning work can begin in the last quarter of the year. 360,584 euros are going to be invested and it has an execution period of two months.
The surface to be asphalted is 7,320 square meters, it will have a single access, with two-way traffic with a concrete enclosure and metal fence. The estimated number of places is 259 for light vehicles, 29 for motorcycles, 7 for people with reduced mobility, 4 modules of 6 places for bicycles and a place reserved for emergencies. In addition, it will be illuminated through 35 autonomous solar light points.
Yesterday, the socialist councilor, Florentino Guzmán, denounced what he defined as “neglect” in Las Teresitas, drawing attention to the signs related to COVID that are still posted or that the closure of the last lane is maintained. As for the improvised parking, he commented on his social networks that “the open tome for the valet, what ironies of life.” Tarife wanted to remind Guzmán that the PSOE voted against the expansion of the budget that allows precisely having money for the repair of the lot.
