Granadilla de Abona obtained 7.5 million euros as a subsidy to develop the seven projects presented by the Consistory to qualify for European funds. This is financing intended to carry out various actions related to sustainability, agricultural markets, trade and urban areas, among other things.
Yanira González, Councilor for Local Development, shows her satisfaction with this balance of achievements in the last year. She understands that these subsidies “supposes the enhancement, improvement and development of initiatives related to the commercial, agricultural and sustainable tourism sectors in Granadilla de Abona, among other aspects,” argues the mayor.
Among the benefited projects, Ecotur cites, on the design and realization of a thematic ecotourism product, carried out in coordination with the Department of Tourism. With a cost of 232,861 euros, 85% (197,932.43 euros) are subsidized.
Approved and running until 2023 is Mercamarkt, on the promotion of traditional agricultural markets (with a budget of 261,000 euros), and Welcome 2, on the promotion of smart tourist destinations, which represents a cost of 304,099 euros, subsidized in 85%.
The So Much to Enjoy Tourism Sustainability Plan is carried out over three years at a cost of 4,990,000 euros. The drafting of the low emission zones (ZBE) project in urban areas of El Médano, San Isidro and Los Abrigos is part of this block of projects approved and in execution, with 100,434 euros.
Granadilla also collects financial support (2,450,000 euros) for the Sensaciones project. Granadilla de Abona Farmer’s Market, to be held in 2023 and 2024. Likewise, the Granadilla de Abona Customer Journey initiative stands out, an initiative that has a cost of 1,985,000 euros and is 80% subsidized by Europe. Its objective is the comprehensive improvement of the commercial area of San Isidro.
