The City Council of Villa de San Juan de la Rambla will start up a specific service starting this week consisting of a specialized care office for farmers and ranchers harmed by the Forest fire which began on July 21 last. The fire affected a large part of the rural farms and some 750 hectares of forest in this municipality. This was announced by the mayor, Jesús Ezequiel Domínguez.
The measure tries to give a quick response to the people affected by the fire. “Urgently, we need to create an inventory, as detailed as possible, of the damage caused by this fire so that, once it is available, we can set the replacement help lines for individuals and companies that have suffered damage,” explains the councilor. Domínguez explains that for this, “we are contacting the victims”, so that “they send us this information”.
Aware that “this exceptional situation requires specialized help and advice”, the mayor of San Juan de la Rambla announced that “we will make an office for assistance to the victims available to anyone who needs it”. It will function as an “advice, help and bridge service regarding the different lines of aid established by the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies,” Domínguez details.
In this same order of things, the councilor recalls that “in the shortest possible time, an extraordinary plenary session will be convened where the need to declare our municipality as an area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency will be made clear for its referral to the competent institutions .
The service office for those affected by the forest fire will be located on the ground floor of the central building of the San Juan de la Rambla Town Hall. In it will be provided attention to the public from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Consistory also makes available to those affected an instance to list the damage, a document that can be accessed in the offices of the aforementioned office as well as on the municipal website www.sanjuandelarambla.es.
The forest fire originated in the Los Campeches area (Los Realejos) on July 21 and was brought under control on July 29, affecting three other municipalities in the north of Tenerife: San Juan de la Rambla, La Guancha and Icod de los Vinos. The flames burned just over 2,750 hectares between pine forests, scrubland and farms within a perimeter of 34 kilometers, according to official data.
