Clavijo (CC) calls the discount of 50% of the price of the bus a “mockery”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 3 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The national secretary general of the Canarian-PNC Coalition and senator for the Autonomous Community, Fernando Clavijo, described the 50% discount on the price of the bus ticket for Canarians as a “mockery” by the State of Canaria and denounced that while Pedro Sánchez ” rewards with free train transport throughout Spain, including the Balearic Islands, while the Canary Islands are penalized with 50% on buses”.

The leader of the nationalists understands that the “half-way” rectification of the Sánchez Executive places the Canary Islands as “second class citizens compared to those of another territory of the Peninsula and those of the Balearic Islands”, to whom the State will also subsidize 100% of train tickets.

Clavijo reproached that Sánchez “still does not understand what the Canary Islands are and, what is worse, still does not understand that the impact of any economic crisis or recession, such as that derived from the pandemic or inflation, is greater in the Islands than in the rest of the world.” peninsular territory” and “while on the Peninsula or the Balearic Islands the commuter train is discounted at 100% in the Canary Islands, the buses -which are our commuter train- are only discounted at 50%”, he added.

According to the nationalist leader, “there is a double yardstick: while the citizen in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands can have the option of moving between their workplace and their home for free by train, in the Canary Islands that is not allowed.”

The general secretary assured that he did not understand the criteria of a government that “again punishes the Canary Islands by denying them the aid that they do give to the citizens of the rest of the Autonomous Communities.”

Likewise, he regretted that the citizens of the Canary Islands “do not have a Canary Islands Government that defends them against the continuous abuses of Madrid.”

Fernando Clavijo maintained that while the Canary Islands “will receive a 50% subsidy in the price of bus tickets, they will have to pay with their taxes 100% of the tickets of any other citizen of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands on commuter trains” .

In this sense, he assured that it is not only “an injustice, but one more punishment from the Government of Pedro Sánchez to a land that he only remembers to take a picture of or to come on vacation.”

Clavijo recalled that the nationalist deputies in Congress were the first to demand a 100% subsidy for bus and tram tickets after President Sánchez announced the subsidy of the entire price of commuter train tickets.

The leader of the Canarian nationalists insisted that the buses and the tram are “our neighborhoods” and did not understand why the state government “denies the Canarians what it gives to the people of Madrid, the Andalusians, the Galicians and even the Balearic Islands, discriminating against the 2.2 million Canarians”.

The secretary general of CC wondered “what the Executive of Ángel Víctor Torres and his government partners have to say now, who joined CC’s request to subsidize 100% bus and tram transport” and questioned whether the train in the Balearic Islands, which depends on the Autonomous Government, is subsidized 100% “how is it possible that a similar measure is not proposed here for trams and buses”.

He also announced that the nationalists will continue to fight in Madrid so that “Canaries receive the same aid as citizens of the rest of the territories.”
