The Cabildo puts out to tender the urbanization of the TF-226 road as it passes through El Sol street, in the municipality of El Rosario. The Island Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, anticipates that the investment will be more than 2.7 million euros and will allow this island section to be converted into a crossing to increase pedestrian and driver safety.
The Governing Council approved the bidding for the integral conditioning works of this portfolio. The project has an expected execution period of 24 months and will involve an investment of 2,716,191 euros, of which the Cabildo contributes 1,943,384 euros and the rest the Rosario City Council.
Arriaga indicates that “it is a comprehensive action on the TF-226.” It will consist, among other actions, of widening the road, enabling pedestrian areas, replacing the walls surrounding the surrounding properties and, lastly, improving the supply, sanitation, drainage and lighting facilities.
Arriaga adds: “The infrastructure requires major remodeling to improve the safety of both pedestrians and drivers who use the TF-226 for their daily journeys.” This is so because the island-owned road has sections that run both in urban areas and through rural settlements.
The island’s director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, emphasizes that “given that at some points there are houses on both sides and that the road is very narrow, the section between Zamoranos and La Fuente streets will have only one direction.”
With this joint action with the City Council of El Rosario, road safety in the area will be significantly improved while driving is made easier for road users.
