SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 1 (EUROPE PRESS) –
Staff of the Cabildo de Tenerife and representatives of the government team and political groups have participated today, Monday, in a minute of noise convened before the doors of the Insular Palace as an act of condemnation for the murder by gender violence that occurred last Friday in the capital of the island.
The act was chaired by the Second Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Finance and Modernization, Berta Pérez, who insisted on the need to “make the public aware that this is a permanent struggle in which the whole of society must be involved” and recalled that this act of rejection responds to a plenary agreement approved by all the political groups represented in the Cabildo.
For her part, the third vice president and insular counselor of Social Action, Marián Franquet, lamented the fact that “to this day there are still people who question the effectiveness and the need to have specific legislation that protects women from cases as terrible as what happened last Friday”. In addition, she stressed the importance of “continuing to work on education, awareness and prevention and to have tools that help and protect victims.”
