The high temperatures forecast starting tomorrow, Monday, August 1, will activate the risk and forest fire in Gran Canaria and on the islands of the western province of the Archipelago (The iron, The Palm, La Gomera Y Tenerife).
The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government declared this Sunday the alert situation due to the risk of forest fire, which will come into force from 12:00.
The forecast is that temperatures will be slightly to moderately rising, being able to reach 38ºC in summits and midlands facing south, west and east of Gran Canaria, and 34ºC in midlands to the south and west of the western islands.
The haze in height than will mainly affect Gran Canaria and Tenerife and the wind will blow from the northeast with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes of the islands. At altitudes below 400-500 meters the trade wind regime will continue. Above that level the relative humidity will be below 30%.
On the island of Tenerife, the area affected by the Los Campeches fire will remain in an Emergency Situation, level 1that is, under the direction of the Cabildo de Tenerife, reports the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies.
Weather for Tuesday and Wednesday
The State Meteorological Agency forecasts that on Tuesday, August 2 there will be cloudy intervals of medium and high clouds and in low areas of the north of the islands with greater relief, cloudy intervals. The haze in height will tend to subside.
The minimum temperatures will be slightly rising and maximum with few changes. It will be possible to exceed 37º C occasionally in the midlands of the south, west and east of Gran Canaria, and 34º C in the midlands of the south and west of the western islands.
The wind will be from the northeast with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes of the islands with greater relief where locally very strong gusts are not ruled out, mainly during the second half of the day. There will be breezes on the southwest facing shores.
In relation to the following day, the sky will be slightly cloudy in general with cloudy intervals of medium and high clouds. In low areas of the north of the islands of greater relief, predominance of cloudy skies.
On the other hand, temperatures will experience a slight to moderate drop. Temperatures may exceed 34º C in the midlands of the south, west and east of Gran Canaria.
The wind will blow from the northeast with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes of the islands of greater relief where locally very strong gusts and breezes on the southwest coasts are not ruled out.
