A 79-year-old man has been injured while practicing the shepherd’s jump, a traditional Canarian practice, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte, in Tenerife, as reported yesterday by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands Government.
The event occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operating room received an alert reporting the fall of a man who was practicing shepherd’s jump in an area of difficult access on cliffs in front of the Teno Point.
The GES helicopter located and rescued the injured man, who was evacuated to Tenerife North airport. There, a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) was waiting for him, whose staff assisted the affected person and transferred him to a hospital center due to moderate rib trauma.
