The woman murdered by her ex-partner in Santa Cruz de Tenerife worked as a cleaner

A man dressed in black waited for a while outside the portal number 5 of a building on Alfaro streetin the heart of Santa Cruz of Tenerife. The witnesses explained that, on numerous occasions, the individual looked into the building, as if he were waiting for someone. He was aware that the one who had been his partner until recently worked in that place and that at that time his workday ended. The victim She was employed by a cleaning company. and she had entrusted the stairs to that part of the great building, which overlooks both Calle Alfaro and the prolongation of Calle Ramón y Cajal. The alleged perpetrator of the murder waited for her in the exact place where she was going to get out of it.

Minutes before 3:00 p.m., the 34-year-old worker reached the street, where his ex-partner cut his neck and she had no possibility of defense, according to the different indications. Shortly after, due to considerable blood loss, the victim went into cardiorespiratory arrest. Some neighbors and passers-by in the area began to shout and ask for help. One of them came down from a flat located in front of the crime scene and began to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on him. These worked and the victim recovered his pulse.

Seconds later, a doctor and a nurse who work at the Doctor Guigou health center, located a short distance from the attack, arrived at number 10 Alfaro street. And a little later, professionals from a medicalized ambulance and another basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) also made an appearance. The health personnel managed to stabilize the woman and she was transferred from the medicalized resource to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital (Hunsc), where she was admitted in a very serious condition. In said health complex, the victim died shortly after after not being able to overcome the serious injuries suffered. The first people who approached the enclave imagined that it had been a casual attack, but the reality was very different from such an assumption.

Drain

After carrying out the attack, the alleged perpetrator got into his vehicle and left the place at full speed. However, the witnesses offered the security forces the make, model and license plate of the car in which he fled.

The first security resources that arrived at Alfaro Street were various patrols and motorcyclists from the Local Police of the capital of Tenerife. These officials proceeded, immediately, to cut off the aforementioned urban road to facilitate the work of the ambulance teams.

Shortly after, the Homicide Group of the National Police took charge of the investigation of the crime of violence against women. In front of portal number 5 of the building where the woman worked, a visible bloodstain was left on the sidewalk.

In addition to these members of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, other officers of the Scientific Police carried out the visual inspection of the crime scene, as well as the photographic report of the biological remains of the woman, both those left on the sidewalk and in the inside of the building.

witnesses

Due to the data collected from the witnesses who observed the escape of the alleged perpetrator, this It did not take long for him to be identified, located and detained by officers of the National Police. shortly after the attack. Because it is a very busy place, several citizens and workers in the area offered their testimony to the Homicide Group investigators to explain what they saw before, during and after the crime.

These statements will be key in the investigation of the case and in the judicial process that is carried out in this case to confirm or not that it is a violent death planned by the alleged perpetrator so that the victim would not have the possibility of any defense.

The proceedings instructed by the investigators will be sent to the Investigating Court number 5 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is currently on duty.

However, almost immediately, said body will be inhibited in favor of one of the two Violence against women courts in the capital of Tenerife, which will carry out all the judicial investigation of the fact.

Second sexist murder in 2022 and the 100th since 2003

The male chauvinist murder recorded early yesterday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the second recorded in Tenerife and this province so far this year. And the number 100 since the registry began, in 2003. On May 11, at 4:00 p.m., a citizen of Galician origin, Ángel Martínez, stabbed his wife several times inside an apartment in the first floor of the Pepita building, on Avenida Los Playeros, in the heart of Los Cristianos, in the municipality of Arona. The woman, Clotilde Rodríguez, died almost instantly. When the police arrived at the apartment, they found that the alleged perpetrator was next to the victim. The alert was given minutes before by a neighbor who supposedly observed how the man attacked her sentimental partner with a knife. The head of the Court of Instruction number 4 of Arona, Nelson Díaz Frías, ordered on May 14 the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail for Ángel Martínez, 83 years old. The magistrate charges the octogenarian with a continued crime of mistreatment of Clotilde and another of murder, with the aggravating circumstances of treachery (the affected woman had no defense option), kinship (she was her wife) and gender. However, in Tenerife there was a third violent death of a woman, although in this case it was not a sexist crime. A young man with serious psychiatric problems ended the life of a neighbor in the Llanos de Guaza neighborhood, also in the municipality of Arona, on January 4. After the investigation carried out by the Judicial Police Territorial Team of the Civil Guard, the alleged perpetrator was brought to justice on January 6 and his entry into prison was ordered. | Peter Fumero
